Dan Matthews is CEO and editorial director of Point & Fire Media.
Dan launched the business with James Cleverly in 2007 with the aim of delivering inspiring and useful web content to entrepreneurs, inventors and jobbing professionals.
Dan is a veteran business journalist with approaching 10 years experience writing about issues affecting firms in the UK and Europe. Following a stint as special correspondent at Jane’s Defence Weekly magazine, he moved to Press Holdings and BusinessEurope.com, becoming editor in October 2001.
After BusinessEurope.com broke away from Press Holdings and merged with VC website Venturedome.net, Dan became group online editor and soon after the business was snapped up by Crimson Business publishing, where he became group online editor of the enlarged company.
Dan left Crimson early in 2006 to become online publisher of Caspian Publishing where he stayed until December 2007 before leaving to go it alone with his own venture…and P&F Media was born.
Dan has also been contributing editor of Real Business and Growing Business Magazines and is a regular contributor to business-orientated TV, radio and written press. He has published four books on aspects of doing business and retains a good working relationship with both Caspian and Crimson.
What little spare time Dan has he devotes to drumming, writing (non-business material), motorbiking, films, theatre and socialising.

James Cleverly is the commercial director of Point & Fire Media.
James has been involved in the commercial side of publishing for over fifteen years having worked in print and online, B2B and consumer publishing. He is responsible for the advertising, sponsorships, affiliates and commercial partnerships across the Point & Fire portfolio.
James worked at VNU Business Publishing for seven years and was part of the team that launched Computeractive magazine, ultimately becoming the Group Sales Manager. It redefined the computer magazine and became the largest circulating magazine in the UK technology sector with a hugely popular website.
Dan and James first worked together at Crimson Business Publishing then again at Caspian Publishing, where the entire digital portfolio was redeveloped.
When not at work James is heavily involved in Conservative politics and is a well known political blogger. He has held a number of advisory positions with the Conservative party including the use of blogging as a campaigning tool.
